Everyone who parks a vehicle on campus must follow UF's parking rules.  A summary of the rules is provided below.  Please read the summary carefully.  If you are aware of the rules, you are less likely to be cited.

  • Parking is restricted on campus, and decal holders must park in designated areas.
  • Parking in no-parking zones, fire lanes and service areas is prohibited at all times.
  • Parking in a service drive requires a special permit.
  • Leaving a vehicle in a space for longer than indicated by posted signs is prohibited.
  • Parking vehicles over a line or on curbs, grass, sidewalks, crosswalks, or backing into spaces is prohibited.
  • Obstructing traffic or creating a hazard is prohibited.
  • Parking in metered spaces requires payment of the fee regardless of a decal or permit attached to the vehicle.
  • The pay parking facilities at the Shands Hospital and J. Hillis Miller Health Center during the posted hours of operation are for patients and visitors only.
  • All parking citations must be paid within 30 calendar days, or an administrative fee will be assessed.

  • Violation of the above rules will result in the issuance of a parking citation. Vehicle impoundment may result if:

  • Parked in a no parking zone, service area, fire lane, or handicap space.
  • Parked in a reserved or restricted parking area.
  • Parked obstructing traffic or creating a hazard.
  • Parked at a bus stop.
  • Parked permanently and abandoned One or more parking citations have not been paid or appealed within 30 calendar days after issuance of the parking citations.
  • Parking privileges have been suspended.
  • You receive more than 5 parking citations during the academic year.

IMPOUNDMENT (BOOTING/TOWING):  Accumulation of 3 or more delinquent parking citations which have a remaining balance due will be grounds for impoundment.  Additionally, accumulation of more than 5 guilty citations paid or unpaid during the academic year (September 1 through August 31) is grounds for impoundment and will be grounds for impoundment upon receiving the 6th citation, and for each citation thereafter.  In order for an impounded vehicle to be released all delinquent citations must be paid in full along with an impound fee.

SUSPENSION:  Accumulation of more than 10 guilty parking citations paid or unpaid during the academic year will be grounds for suspension of campus parking privileges for the remainder of the academic year.

At the start of each academic year (September 1st) a fresh start in regard to the number of citations accrued during the previous academic year will be given.  However, previous parking citations are not forgiven and you are still responsible for any outstanding balances due.

The intent of this enforcement policy is to help control and reduce the amount of illegal parking on campus by holding repeat offenders accountable for their actions.  Illegal parking reduces the amount of available parking and is unfair to those who have parking decals and properly adhere to UF regulations.
